Utah. Week 2.

This week was a busy week for us.  My family AND Jeff's family conveniently planned family reunions/vacations in Bear Lake the very same week which ended up working out quite nicely.  My family spent the first half of the week up there and Jeff's family came up the second half of the week.  So we were able to go to both.  We had such a great time.  Good thing we love Bear Lake.

This is the cabin we stayed in with my family.  It was SO NICE and SO BIG!  Not what I was expecting for a typical cabin, looks and felt more like a summer home to me.

Carson would beg to hold Trey and then push him off within seconds.  He decided he liked it better having him sit right next to him.  I guess Trey was too heavy. :)

And this here... is our little swim monkey.  Although he's not really much of a swim monkey.  He liked this floaty for a little while and then decided he hated to be splashed by other swimmers... so that quickly put an end to that.  But he still makes for one cute little swimmer.

We spent much of our time playing games, eating lots of yummy food, playing at the beach and the pool, and just relaxing.  It was such a fun vacation.  Thanks mom and dad.  

And we ended our stay with some good ol' Bear Lake Pizza.  So yummy... as you can see. :)

Wegener Family Reunion:

Jeff's parents own a condo up in Bear Lake, so his family spends much of their summer taking turns staying in the condo.  It's not been till recently that they've started having family reunions up there.  So far it has worked out great and everyone seems to have a blast.  This year we filled up three entire condos.  It worked out that Tony and Kathie traded weeks with some neighboring condos, so we could all comfortably fit and have a place to sleep.  That is a task in and of itself.
Something unique about Jeff and his family is that neither of his parents have any siblings... which means, Jeff and his siblings don't have any cousins.  That was just crazy to me when I first found that out, but I've since decided that they don't need any cousins!  They've got a big enough family to make up for it!!

 This was just a fun one we did down on the beach... the sun was obviously a bit of a detriment to the picture but I still think it turned out cute.

 This was the first year EVERYONE was able to come to the reunion.  It was great having everyone there together.  Kathie hired someone to come up and take family pictures.  I think they turned out great.

Besides lots of picture taking....  We spent most of our time playing outside.  Jeff especially had a good time, he couldn't hide his excitement!

I suppose the girls couldn't either...

 

Our days were filled with LOTS of games... you name it, we probably played it.  One of our favorites ended up being the game Werewolf, which if you've played it is much like the game mafia.  So fun with a big group!

We spent lots of time at the beach and pool...

We ate LOTS of delicious food!

... and had THE much anticipated water balloon launching...

If you look closely, you'll see Jeff's brother Dan getting nailed with a waterballoon.  Those things got some distance!  At one point Jeff's neice got hit with two balloons at once.  Made for some pretty good bruises.

... and yes, everyone walked away with a welt... or two... or three...  except those of us who chose to sit back and watch, and of course take pictures...

 Trey's floaty ended up being quite useful.  In fact, he may have enjoyed it a little more lounging on the grass than he did in the pool.  Little stinker.

He also spent time with his cousins.  Carlos (2 months), Lydia (6 months), Trey (3 months)

And he particularly enjoyed his "Uncle Rich"... somehow he could always make him smile.

But he mostly loved hangin out with his mommy.  That's what he told me anyway.

Whew! Well that concludes week 2.  That was way too many pictures I know... but when you have over 200 to choose from, it gets hard!  We sure had a good time and are looking forward to many more fun times in Bear Lake....

Utah. Week 1.

Because I am feeling overwhelmed at the amount of pictures I want to post from our trip home, I decided that I would just take it a week at a time.  So we will start with week 1.

Trey did great on the flight home, minus the fact that my arm was about ready to fall off by the end.  That kid is heavy!!  Not to mention the long layover we ended up having, arriving in Utah at 3am instead of our expected arrival of 9:30pm.  But we made it one piece with minimal complaints from my little buddy.  Thank goodness.  What really topped it off though, was getting home to two full suitcases completely soaked.. clothes and all... from being left out in the rain by some idiot airport people in Chicago.  Gotta love flying!

Our first week home was pretty low key.  Trey and I mainly just hung with the fam and relaxed.  Oh and ate at Firehouse. :)  Jeff wasn't planning to fly home until that weekend because he had finals all that week.  Here are some pics from our week.

Apparently my neice loves Firehouse just as much I do.  She takes after her favorite Aunt.  :)

We got to watch my nephew Carson play on his T-Ball Team.  Kids that age are so funny to watch.

 

We celebrated my Grandma Western's 92nd Birthday.  I'm so glad we were able to be there for it.

These two little guys were Best Buds the whole time we were home.  It was so cute.
I was worried Trey was going to have a hard time adjusting to a new place and so many new faces, but for the most part, he did great.  He was a little trooper....  

Meanwhile, Jeff was home studying for his tests when low and behold he gets a kidney stone.  Poor guy had to suffer by himself.  We were glad that it just ended up being a kidney stone so he was still able to come to Utah as planned.  (I say "just" with all the sympathy I can muster because I'm sure if you were to ask Jeff, he wouldn't have said JUST a kidney stone.)  For his sake, we sure hope he doesn't have to experience another one in the near future... or ever. 

Jeff arrived in Utah just in time to celebrate his first Father's Day.  We celebrated by having dinner over at his sister Angie's house.  It was so fun seeing everyone again and Trey loved meeting all of his cousins and Aunts and Uncles.  It had been WAY TOO LONG since I'd been home and these two little cousins had missed each other.

Trey enjoyed laying in Lydia's bouncer chair... We won't mention the part where he bottomed out when we put him in it.  Ha, we love our little chunker. 

Jeff sure did miss his little buddy... quite possibly more than me. I guess that's the way it goes now.
I'm doubting Jeff can think of anything more rewarding than being a daddy to this little guy.  Happy Father's Day Jeff.  Trey and I wouldn't know what to do without you.  We love you!

WEEK 2 COMING SOON....

Perfect Weekend

Our Saturday night consisted of:

Perfect Weather. Baseball. Friends. Collective Soul. Fireworks.

Can't get much better than that.

Oh wait. Yes it can. Watching Trey watch the fireworks.... My favorite. :)

He slept through the first half and woke up at the last 10 minutes. He loved them! I can't believe he didn't cry. They were SO LOUD!!



Jeff took some pretty neat pictures of the fireworks. These fireworks do not disappoint. We went last year and loved them and this year same thing. The coolest part is they shoot them off from the field, the bridge, off of the skyscrapers, and off of the barge in the water. Pretty Awesome.









Monday we went to Amish Country with these great people.


And ate breakfast at a really good Amish Restaurant called Der Dutchman's.

And drove around a lot of the beautiful country, to see the Amish homes. It was beautiful there. Unfortunately they don't love to be stared at or have their pictures taken... (I wonder why??) so I didn't get a lot of pictures that I wanted to. I guess these ones will suffice.

I really wanted to get this picture of these Amish girls walking down the street. It was so cute. The best I could do was take it from my rear view mirror. You'll have to look really closely to see them.



Drove by a home that was getting reconstructed by who better than the Amish themselves. :)

This was their transportation... some drive cars, some drive buggies... not sure who decides that.
We ended the day with some good ol' Amish ice cream. I actually don't know if it was ice cream made by the Amish but it was in Amish Country so one can only assume. :)

And this little munchkin pretty much slept through it all... what a good kid!

Someday.... I would like a home like this with a yard as pretty as this one.... Someday.

3 Months

Trey is 3 months already! I really can't believe how quickly these first few months flew by. My little baby is getting SO BIG! I feel like he skipped right over the tiny newborn stage and on to a 3 month old, because lets be honest.... he was never the size of a newborn! :) But we LOVE him and all his chubbiness. He wouldn't be so darn cute without all those rolls.




More "Trey-isms"

-Trey still sleeps like a champ! I guess he has to grow sometime! :)
-He has recently found an interest in his fingers... they must taste really good.
-He is very alert and so observant. He loves to look around and check things out.
-He loves to watch TV with mom and dad... whenever we turn him away he tries really hard to move his little head so he can see it again.
-He is a very content and very happy baby.
-He loves to kick his little feet in the tub.. making mommy very wet.
-He loves to coo and talk and is always kicking his feet.
-He loves to eat and unfortunately for mom will not take a bottle! We're gonna keep working on him though!
-His favorite time is rocking with mom in the rocking chair. :)

He is getting so much fun! It makes me a little sad to see him grow up so quick but I know each stage gets more and more fun once they start becoming more interactive. I love my little buddy and couldn't be happier.

Deep in Thought...

Over The Hump!!

Well today marks the official "Over The Hump Day." Which means we've got two years behind our belts and only two more to go! This is somewhat of a bittersweet for me. I am going to be so thrilled when Jeff is FINALLY done with school and he can become a certified dentist... (assuming he doesn't specialize) BUT I am going to be SO SAD when we have to leave this place. I might just have to sneak away without saying my goodbyes, I am going to warn you right now... there will be lots of tears shed.

To celebrate reaching the two year mark we had a party... And what's a party without some food! Nicole organized a BBQ at her house with all these wonderful people.



Good thing you have such a big yard Nicole! We missed all of you who couldn't make it.

And of course the burning of the scrubs...



These are the newest and cutest babies of the 2nd year... soon to be 3rd year, dental school class. (minus Kaylene and Kolten.)

Trey-March 12..... Caleb- April 8..... Chase- May 14

Although my child appears to be a few months older he is not. Poor kid can't even button up his pants!

It's crazy to think we are going to be starting our 3rd year. Time has flown by SO FAST! And I have loved every minute. We have made so many new friends and have made such great memories here in Pittsburgh. I wish it didn't have to come to an end. Listen to me, I'm talking like we are leaving. What I mean is I am excited for many more great memories to come!

Jeff is doing awesome in school and we are LOVING this summer semester. Jeff is home way more than he probably should be but I love it. And so does Trey. See??


In fact Trey was screaming when Jeff came home from school today and the second Jeff came in the room and started talking to him his cry turned into a laugh.... So cute!!! Daddy saved the day!

Trey is generally a very happy baby. He loves just hangin out with mom. And mommy loves nothing more than hanging out with this sweet little baby.


We are counting down the days until we get to go home... It has been almost 10 months since I have seen my family. Tear. :( So you can imagine my EXCITEMENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! UTAH HERE WE COME!!!! (Well in a few weeks)
