Visitors!

My brother and his wife and their little sweet little boy came to visit us last week.  It's been a while since we've had visitors so it was definitely fun to have them.

We took them up the Duqesne Incline and took some pictures overlooking the city.

Followed by dinner at Giovanni's.

 The next day we took them to the strip district.  We couldn't resist the reese's covered popcorn.

My brother and his wife rented a car and headed off to DC for a few days while these two little munchkins got to spend some much needed cousin-bonding time.

  My nephew(who is going to remain nameless) was enthralled by Trey and would often just sit and laugh at him, and Trey loved having a little friend around to play with.

I took them to the park a couple of times and they both loved the swings.

They also liked getting in each others cribs after nap time.  Hey, it kept them entertained for a while!

My nephew is 9 months and Trey is 18 months, so before long they will be the best of buds and be chasing each other around.  Trey couldn't figure out why he couldn't ride on his cousins back while he was crawling.  Silly boy.

Summer Break in Utah

Like always, our summer break was spent in Utah.  Oh how I love the summers in Logan.  They are absolutely the best.  (Okay, I don't have a lot to compare it to but I can't imagine it gets much better than Logan.)  

Because we visited so late in the summer, we missed all the family reunions and all the regular summer festivities.  That made for a nice and relaxing break where we pretty much did whatever we felt like.

We had originally planned to spend two weeks in Logan and had booked our flights accordingly.  But it turns out one of Jeff's classmates wanted to switch him days in the Emergency clinic so we were able to switch our flights and come home a week earlier.  We kept it a secret from my family so we could surprise them...  And surprise we did!  It was fun to see the look on their faces when we showed up at my parents house.  We ended up putting Trey on my parents door step while Jeff and I hid.  My nephew Carson answered the door and stood their for a second just looking at Trey, and finally said, "Hi Trey!"... Trey pushed himself right in and greeted the rest of my family in the living room where they were totally confused as to who this child was and why he looked SO much like Trey!!  Haha.  I think my mom was so shocked she was at a loss of words.  All we could hear her saying was, "Oh my gosh!!  Is that TREY??  Is that Trey??  Trey??  TREY'S HERE!!"  It was pretty hilarious.  Anyway, I'm glad we were able to surprise them because our last attempt had been a complete failure.  {Ahem... Cortney}

We were able to go to the Cache County Fair a couple of times that weekend.  Trey loved looking at all the animals and watching all the people.  I personally like to go for the food.

Of course I spent some quality time with my friends.  This is the only picture I got and it's not even of my friends.  (Sorry guys)  We got together and made dinner and stayed up chatting into all hours of the night, and the following day we went to "The Help"  then picked up some dinner and went to Stacey's afterwards.  This is when Trey came over and was less than pleasant company.  At least the dog kept him entertained for a bit.

Trey was actually terrified of the horse (pictured above), for about the first two weeks.  Every time we'd walk by it, he'd freak.  Then one day he decided to give it a try and what do ya know... he LOVED it and always wanted to ride it.

We went up Logan Canyon with my family and had fun making tin foil dinners and roasting marshmallows.

We took a trip down to Bountiful one morning to go visit my Grandma Western.  I always feel bad we don't get to spend more time with her.  My brother and his wife met us there and we all enjoyed some lunch together.

We celebrated Jeff's birthday. (multiple times)  He is now the BIG 29.  He is getting so old!  :)
On this particular celebration, we had dinner and cake and ice cream with his family.
We also had a birthday dinner with my family but there is no picture.

We spent an afternoon over at Angie's playing on her blow up water slide.  It was a hit.

And last, but certainly not least we spent a few days up in Bear Lake at Jeff's condo.
The first night we had some good friends from Pittsburgh come stay with us.  They just graduated this last year and we miss them dearly.  :)

Played games, went to La Beau's, and had a great time.  Oh yes, and Tiffany lost in a bet and had to act like a monkey.

The second night we had some of Jeff's friends and their wives come up.
We pretty much did all the same things that we had done the previous day.
All three of us wives have a little boy and one on the way.  So far two of the three are gonna be girls.  So fun to have babies around the same time.

What a Boy

Jeff and I broke down and ordered a basketball hoop for Trey.  We just couldn't resist.  It arrived yesterday, just in time for us to get home from our trip to Utah.  I set it up this morning and I think Trey thought it was Christmas.  He probably played with this thing for a total of 3 hours today.  I'm just hoping the excitement doesn't wear off in a couple of days.  It's a great babysitter!

In other news...

For those of you who haven't heard... we are expecting a BABY GIRL!!!

Bring on the dolls and the girl clothes!!!  We can't wait!!

Pool Bound

Trey and I have spent quite a few days lately hangin out at the pool.  Have I mentioned that it has been around 90+ degrees here these past couple of weeks?? Well add the humidity on top of that and it is HOT.  So to the pool we go.  Thank goodness we know such a nice lady who is willing to share her pool with us!

 

I wish I could say I'm getting a lot of sun, but unfortunately Pittsburgh has more overcast days than Seattle.  Do you believe it??  I sure miss me some Utah sun.  I didn't appreciate the blue skies much until I moved here.  Now I pray we move somewhere with blue skies!

On a different note.... Jeff just finished his LAST final this morning!!!  Hopefully the last final he will EVER have to take.  Halle-freakin-luja!  I think it's time to celebrate!

Utah. Hawaii. AND ........

Finally.  The Hawaii post.  The unfortunate part of me blogging about this 3 months after the fact is that I can only remember the things we did that I took a picture of.  But don't worry, I took plenty of pictures.  In fact this will probably be the longest post of your life.  Are you ready?

I flew home with Trey a week early so I could get him a little adjusted to my family and to his surroundings before I just took off to Hawaii.  Plus I got an extra week out of my vacation.  :)

Our week was spent:

Celebrating Easter with both sides of the fam...

And dinner at Grammy's with the whole Anderson/Western/Watts clan.

I went back over to the Falslevs later that night to get my nails painted all cute by these girls...

And to get my trash kicked in a game of 3-13 by Ang and Shane.

I left somewhat early Friday morning and had a tearful goodbye with my sweet little boy whom I had never left for more than an evening away.  It tore at my heartstrings, but I survived and the trip was well worth it.  (Even if I did have to call my family 10 times a day to check up on him. :))

A big thanks to my family for being willing to watch Trey.

We spent a total of 9 days in Hawaii at a beautiful resort called Ko' Olina. We went to Hawaii a few years ago as well with Jeff's parents and that is when we did most of our sight-seeing.  So this time we mostly just relaxed and hung by the beach.  What more can you ask for?

They were having a Spam festival over at Waikiki that Jeff and I thought we would check out.  Plus he had a mission friend who he was planning to meet up with at the festival.

It really is a beautiful place.  I'm so glad Tony and Kathie have been so kind to take us not once, but TWICE to Hawaii.  We can't thank them enough.

Our vacation wouldn't be complete unless we were treated to a few fancy restaurants.

Lucky for us we got to celebrate our Anniversary a few times.

We drove practically around the whole island (we missed the exit) during the middle of an incredible lightning storm, to meet up with some good friends of the Wegener's.  We had dinner at a beautiful golf course on Turtle Bay.

Jeff and I got to go on a dolphin excursion for going to one of those stupid time-share presentations (that we vowed we'd never do again)... but this time it payed off.

 We saw lots of dolphins and even snorkeled really close to some of them.

Jeff and I spent a day at the Northshore playing in the waves, checking out the turtles, eating lunch, and my personal favorite... getting a snow cone at Matsumotos.

Jeff got caught in the waves and you could see the panic on his face trying to get back to shore. That is why I don't go out there.  I'd probably drown!



Jeff also spent many of his mornings driving into Waikiki with his dad to go surfing.  I bummed out this year and only went in once to watch... and shop of course. :)  We also spent some time at the beach snorkeling and playing in the water.

Our last dinner down by the pool.  Jeff LOVED their fish tacos and couldn't stop talking about them the whole trip.

We flew home on the red eye flight and got home Sunday morning which happened to be Mother's Day.
It was a nice little Mother's Day treat to get home and see my little boy.

Thank You SO Much!!!

The day after I left, Trey got a horrible cold and ended up being sick all week... what are the chances.  I felt really bad they had to take care of a sick baby, but they said he did great despite the nasty cold.  I'm glad they were able to get some bonding time in.

I couldn't have asked for a better reunion with Trey.  I went in to get him up from his nap and he just stared at me like, "is it really you, where have you been??"  Then I picked him up and the first thing he did was lay his head down on my shoulder.  It was so sweet.  He continued to give me a hug for a good 5 min and refused to go to anyone else.  It was a perfect Mother's Day gift.  I just love my little boy.

Before we headed back to the 'Burgh, we got one last lunch in with some of Jeff's buddies and their kids.

And also spent some time with the fam.

What a fun and memorable trip.  I hope we can do it again sometime!!! ;)

if you actually made it through this post to hear the news I am impressed.

We found out I was pregnant on Mother's Day which was another great surprise!  We couldn't be happier!!
