11 Months

It's official.  He CRAWLS!!  It may have took him a few months to figure it out, but now that he has, the kid doesn't stop!  He is one busy bee and into just about anything he can get his hands on.  We have taught him no-no and most of the time he responds pretty well to it.  In fact when he's about to touch something he knows he's not supposed to, he will reach out his hand like he's going to touch it, then shake his head no-no and then crawl away.  It's pretty darn cute.  Jeff and I get a good laugh out of it.

We have made very small progress with the sippy cup.... but it's progress none the less.  I'll take what I can get.

He is still a great eater.  Sometimes I forget to feed him when he is hungry, and when that happens, I can't put the food on his tray fast enough.  I feel like I barely turn around for one second and it is gone... or at least all shoved in his mouth.  Lesson learned: Don't forget to feed the poor kid!!  His new favorite foods are bananas, blueberries, peas, and freeze dried yogurt.

We have made a break through with sleeping.  I hate to say that, for fear I may jinx myself.... but Trey has done pretty darn good lately. (minus the past few days)  He will go 10-12 hrs straight, and then sometimes go down for a couple more hours after that.  One things for sure, we both LOVE our sleep.

His sleeping habits have been so good until this last week.  He went from sleeping great to hardly sleeping at all.  I was seriously beginning to think my child was scared of his crib.  Every single time I'd go to lay him down, he would freak out... I mean have a COMPLETE melt down, which was so unlike him.  It didn't matter if it was for a nap or for bedtime, he would NOT have it.  He wouldn't end up going to bed until hours after his regular bed time, on top of refusing to take an afternoon nap.  Now keep in mind that Trey just recently started standing up in his crib, which I thought may be the reason for him not wanting to go to sleep... maybe he couldn't figure out how to lay back down??  So I would go in and lay him back down multiple times, only to have him bounce right back up screaming.  I was at my whits end.  Jeff is generally the logical one in situations like this, but he too was out of ideas.  Yesterday, I decided I just needed to let him cry until he figured out how to lay down and go to sleep.  He cried for 2 hours (and I may or may not have cried a little myself).... after two hours I couldn't take it anymore and ended up going in and rocking him to sleep.  2 Hours!!  That is a LONG time for me.  Anyway, I finally decided to take him to the Doctor.  Turns out he has a double ear infection.  Yep, I am a horrible mom who let my child scream countless hours this past week while the poor kid was in pain!  In my defense, we did take his temperature often and watched for other signs of a possible ear infection.  Not to mention I have taken him to the doctor twice in the past thinking he had an ear infection and he never did.  I felt awful, but am SO RELIEVED to know there is an explanation for all of this.  Now I don't have to feel guilty about loading him up on tylenol.  Hopefully the antibiotics will kick in quick.

Aside from the stress of a non-sleeping/sick baby.... it is the ONLY time he will let me cuddle him.  I treasure every last minute of it.  (Even if it is at 2am)

The Best of Buds

These two have become quite the pals lately.

Trey- 10 months                                    Caleb- 9 months

They play so good together...

 Until one of them tries to tackle the other.

This happened twice in one night.  Trey would get up on his knees, put his hands on Caleb's shoulders, and wham... push him smack down on the floor.  I thought there would be some tears, but Caleb just looked at him like, "what was that for!?"

Apparently we need to start teaching Trey a thing or two about bullying.
.....Either that or he's practicing to become a football player.
I'm not sure which one I'd prefer.

Christmas Break in Review...

Christmas break was a blast.  I have a whole lot of pictures to post and not a ton to say... so I will just get on with it.

Trey did a great job adjusting despite all my worrying.  After a couple rough nights he slept great and only had a few random nights in between.  But I was very happy with how well he slept, both at night, and during naps.  He also did great on both the flight to Utah and back to Pittsburgh with maybe a couple upsets that didn't last long.  As Jeff often tells me... all my worrying was for nothing.  But my philosophy is, it's better to be prepared than not. So, I will continue to worry.... mostly because I can't help it anyway.

These three bonded right off the bat.  In fact, it took Carson a few days for the excitement of seeing Trey to wear down a little.  He was REALLY excited to get to play with his VERY FIRST cousin.  He even kept a little calendar counting down the days until Trey would arrive.... and he made sure to let everyone know.  It was cute.

Santa showed up at our Christmas party.  I thought Trey would be terrified.  He was just a little skeptical is all... that's my boy. :)

My friends and I (minus Laci) had ourselves a Christmas shin-dig... or whatever you want to call it.  Usually that consists of food... talking... reminiscing... laughing... staying up late...more food... and more laughing.  

We had a great time.

If you know my friends, you know how impossible it is to get a good/serious picture of everyone.  Let me just show you....

We had yet again another yummy dinner... including prime rib and shrimp.  Unfortunately this is the only picture I got of that night and it isn't that great.  Oh well.
My mom read us all a Christmas story and shared a nice little spiritual thought/story with all of us.

I got to meet my newest nephew, Henry.

Christmas Morning at my house.

Trey's FIRST Christmas!  I thought he'd be more interested in the wrapping paper than his presents... but again, I was wrong.... He WANTED HIS presents and got impatient when we were trying to open up the box. (which are THE - MOST - RIDICULOUS things to open)  Silly Boy.

We opened presents and then had our traditional french toast breakfast.

New Years Eve
For New Years Eve, Jeff went to the Utah State game and I went to dinner at Hamilton's with my family.
Afterward, we hung out and watched the ball drop with these lovely people.
We always have a good time with Jeff's friends.

New Years Day
We threw a Baby Shower for my cousin Jani.
Her and I are only 11 months apart and have always been super close.
Now our boys are going to be 11 months apart.
We can only hope they will be as close.  Right Jan??  :)

We paid my sweet Grandma Western a visit...

Me, Trey, my sister Ashlee, and her husband stayed that night at Jani's.  She made us homemade ice cream and fruit smoothies... AFTER I made her spill hot candle wax all over her brand new entry-way dresser.  I'm still sorry about that!  You're the best host Jan, thanks!!

We woke up early the next morning for my nephew's baby blessing.... which we ALMOST missed... due to a horrible navigator (me), and some not very clear directions.  But all is well, thanks to my mom.

Unfortunately that day I woke up with some sort of stomach bug.  Boo.  I hate being sick.

Jeff's family was planning a big birthday bash that evening for four of us in the fam who all have a birthday the end of December/early January.  Sadly I had to miss out.  But I was still able to hear them sing to me from where I was laying in my bed.  :(

And in addition to ALL of this... we had many lunch dates, game nights, dinners, and more dinners with some of our very favorite people.
This trip might just take the cake of all our trips home.
We had fun.
REAL FUN.

I'm already looking forward to our next trip home.
