Hawaii: Week Two

Beware: This is a long one. The second week in paradise we stayed at Jeff's parent's condo at Ko Olina. This location was quite a bit different than Waikiki. It was very, very nice and isolated so it really felt like an exclusive resort. Our rooms were so nice and everything was beautiful there. We had a car this week so we were able to go to the north side of the island and go to different beaches and see stuff up there.

We went to turtle beach and saw tons of sea turtles. We were able to get real close to some...it was awesome.

They were huge and they didn't seem to mind that we were right there.

My friends think Jeff looks like Ariel from the Little Mermaid in this picture. They didn't even notice the turtle!

I was talking on the phone to my friend Laci and before I knew it Jeff had completely buried me in sand.

Here I am at Sunset Beach on the Pipeline. We made a quick stop to check out the waves on our way up to the Polynesian Cultural Center.

The Hawaii Temple.

Here is another picture of the temple. Notice how hazy it is. This is how it was for the last few days because a volcano was erupting on another island.

The canoe show at the Polynesian Cultural Center. We were able to go to a lot of different villages and watch a bunch of shows. Then we went to a luau and had some yummy food.

Waiting to go watch the night show at the Polynesian Cultural Center after dinner. This was a really cool experience....I would highly recommend it to those going to Hawaii.

We met Jeff's mission companion and his wife at Waimea Bay. I mentioned earlier that the waves got big here. Well, here you go. Jeff claims they can get twice this size. Look at Jeff's face in the picture, it makes me laugh. :)

Here is a better angled picture of the waves. You can get a better idea of how big they were. I'll admit... I was too chicken to get in the water, Jeff thinks I was a wuss, but I don't care, I wasn't about to get taken out by those things! People were getting wiped out all over the place! It is a good thing Jeff had his companion with him to play in the waves. I will post some videos of this later.

Me and my Aunt Vicky hangin out by the pool. Her and my Uncle Don happened to be staying at the same resort at the exact same time as us. Crazy! It was fun hanging out with them in Hawaii.

Jeff's companion, Paula Nonu and his wife Lose, came down to the condo and hung out with us for a day. They are both from Tonga and are currently going to school in Hawaii. It was fun to meet them. My uncle Don played water basketball with them....he took my spot because I wasn't much of a match for the three of them!

One last picture before we took off to the airport....such a sad day. We weren't looking forward to the LONG flight home!! We flew all night and arrived back in Logan around 1:00 pm... what a long day! A BIG THANK YOU TO TONY AND KATHIE FOR TAKING US TO HAWAII WITH THEM! We appreciate all you did to make the trip a memorable one! We'll never forget it! Jeff would like to add....Aloha...and Mahalo. :)

Hawaii: Week One

I'm a little slow at getting around to posting about our trip to Hawaii. Jeff's parents were nice enough to take us to Hawaii. It was quite the vacation. I tried to write down the things we did each day so I'd have an easier time recapping the two weeks we spent there. I will start with week one.

The first week we spent in Waikiki. This is more of the touristy area where all the shops and crazy people are. I could spend hours just watching people... there really are some weird people in this world. We arrived in Hawaii Saturday morning around 11. (3:00 Utah time) I was so tired that day I fell asleep at 7:30! We stayed in the Marriot right on the beach and we had a blast. Here are some pictures from the first week. Stay tuned for week 2!

We had lunch/dinner at the Cheesecake Factory. We look pretty nasty because we had been on the plane all day! We were killing some time before we could check into our hotel.

This is the Sunday brunch we went to at some really fancy hotel. I've never seen so much food, the food was delicious!

We went to dinner at Sam Choy's with Todd and his wife. Todd is a beach boy at Waikiki and has been Tony's surfing buddy for years. He is the one that taught me to surf. He must have been a pretty good teacher because I got up on my first time! It was awesome!

This is me, Jeff, and his niece Nikki at the Dole Pineapple Plantation. We had some really yummy pineapple floats! Mmmm.... Nikki is stationed in Hawaii in the Air Force and was able to spend a couple of days with us.
